ABEL Construction specializes in general contracting and construction management, design build, IPD and facilities maintenance. We are one of the largest contractors in the Kentuckiana region and have helped build some of the area’s most recognizable landmarks. Our construction experience and expertise is unmatched—but we didn’t earn it over night…
It began in 1938. America was pulling itself out of The Great Depression. Big Band ruled the radio. And a former professional boxer named William M. Abel turned his competitive spirit to his newly founded construction company, Abel & Sons, Inc. Little did he know that his modest residential repair business would grow into the respected company it is today.
Sons Bill and Bob followed their father into the family business in 1961, and set their sites on future growth and expansions. They increased ABEL Construction’s capacity as a general contractor by starting Advance Ready Mix Concrete, as well as by adding the equipment necessary to handle every detail of the construction process from start to finish. Today ABEL Construction is still owned by the Abel family. Bill, Jr. is the CEO and his Wife Amy is Chairwoman. As of 2018, ABEL Construction Company became a Woman Business Enterprise and a proud member of the WBENC organization. Their oldest Son, Mitchell joined the company after graduating from college making ABEL Construction a fourth-generation, family-owned business.
From the very beginning, ABEL Construction has made construction excellence and project scheduling a top priority. We are particularly attuned to the critical path approach to construction efficiency, which requires always completing a job when the client needs it, on time, on budget and at the highest level of quality.
Today, ABEL Construction continues to grow and evolve, while holding fast to those principles first set forth by William Abel all those years ago. We’ve been defining the construction business for our clients in Kentucky for over eight decades. We’ve weathered our fair share of economic cycles and our experience, stability and capabilities distinguish us in the market. For us, it’s always about relationships and trust.
